DIPP vested with powers to grant defence industrial licences

NEW DELHI, MAY 27, 2017: WITH a vision to enable equal participation of Private Sector especially the MSME's of the domestic market in defence production, Ministry of Home Affairs under the provisions of Section 5 and Section 7 and Chapter III of Arms Act, 1959 have delegated powers to Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) in respect of defence items included in the Schedule to the Act. Consequently, power to grant manufacturing license in respect of the vast category of arms and ammunition and defence items such as warships, aircrafts and other items under Schedule to the said Notification dated May 19, 2017 has been delegated to Secretary, DIPP.
The Industrial Licensing Section under the DIPP has been entrusted to process the applications for grant of license for manufacture of defence items included in the said Notification.
All the interested Entrepreneurs/ Industries/Companies are requested to apply in Form A-6 of Arms Rules 2016 in 15 copies along with details and enclosures as mentioned in the Arms Rules2016 to the Senior Development Officer (Industrial License), Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Industrial Licensing Section.
