Only certified Organic Produce can be exported: Minister

NEW DELHI, APRIL 10, 2017: MINISTRY of Commerce & Industry has formulated the National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP) for certification of organic products. NPOP is being implemented since 2001. Organic products can be exported from the country only when certified by an accredited certification body under the NPOP.
The details of export of organic products during the last three years (2014-15 to 2016-17) are as under:

Data for the current year (2017-18) is not yet available. Biodynamic agricultural products are those which are certified under private International Standards like Demeter Standards. Data for exports of Biodynamic products is not maintained.
There were 6674 Operators certified under NPOP as on 31st March 2017, which included individual producers, processors, traders, grower groups and wild collection operators.
This information was given by the Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in a written reply in Lok Sabha today.
