Deputation period may be extended but allowance to be capped at five years

By TIOL News Service

NEW DELHI, FEB 25, 2017: WITH the DoP&T amending the rules to grant extension of deputationists up to seven years, the Government has clarified that the Deputation Allowance will not be available to the extended period beyond five years.

In 2010, the DoP&T had amended rules to grant extension up to five years and also allowed deputation allowance entitlement co-terminus with the period.

Last year the rules were amended to grant extension up to seven years but there was no clarity as to whether deputation allowance will be available for the extended period. Now, the Government has clarified that such allowance will be capped at five years period only.
