Security related expenditure Scheme covers 106 districts: Minister

NEW DELHI, AUG 04, 2015: A total of 106 districts are covered under the Security Related Expenditure (SRE) Scheme. The Additional Central Assistance for LWE affected districts (ACA) (earlier known as the Integrated Action Plan (IAP)) has been under implementation covering 88 districts in the 10 LWE affected States with allocation of Rs. 30 crore per district per year. Of the total 1,63,537 projects taken up, 1,34,558 projects have so far been completed. The nature of major works/projects taken up by the districts under the IAP/ACA includes construction of school buildings/ school furniture, anganwadi centres, drinking water facilities, rural roads, panchayat bhawans/ community halls, godowns/ PDS shops, livelihood activities, skill development/ trainings etc.

From financial year 2015-16, no fund provision has been made by the Ministry of Finance and the States are required to continue with the scheme out of their increased resources in consequence to the recommendations of the 14th Finance Commission.

This was stated by the Minister of State for Home Affairs,Mr Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary in a written reply to a question by Mr Nishikant Dubey in the Lok Sabha today.
