24x7 clearance facility at ports needed

CBEC has issued circulars for 24x7 activity for facilitated BEs. Recently by virtue of circular no. 19/2014 dt. 31st Dec.14 it has been extended to more ports. Although this facility would have started in Sept '12 but not a single port was working for 24X7 deliveries.

To make it happen Custom Houses require more officers, as on date all Custom Houses are facing shortage of officers for day to day activity. Apart from that  shipping cos. are also playing major role for its implementation. They are closed on all Saturdays and Sundays, importers can't collect Delivery Order. Therefore, it is imperative that shipping cos. have to extend their working hours on weekdays and should open on all Saturdays + for half day on Sundays.

Just issuing a circular does not serve any purpose, one has to study the problems being faced practically and try to resolve them.
