CBI finally nabs absconder accused of Rs 7 Crore rebate fraud case

MUMBAI, JAN 25, 2015: THE Central Bureau of Investigation has finally arrested a duty evader who was declared absconder by the Trial Court. The accused was declared so in an alleged duty fraud case of over Rs seven crore.
The CBI had registered a case in 2007 on the allegations that the accused persons obtained fraudulent duty rebate claims from Central Excise, Surat(Gujarat) during 2004 to 2005 on the basis of forged export documents. After investigation, a chargesheet was filed in 2009 in the Court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, 19 th Court, Mumbai against the accused persons.
The said person was absconding and he was declared Proclaimed Offender in 2014 by the trial Court. After continuous efforts, CBI traced the accused and arrested him.
The arrested accused was produced today before the ACMM, 19 th Court, Mumbai and was remanded to Judicial Custody.
