'Indian Railways - On a fast track to the Future' is theme of R-Day Tableau

NEW DELHI, JAN 24, 2015: FOR this year’s Republic Day Parade, the Indian Railways presents a special tableau with the theme “Indian Railways – On a Fast Track to the Future”. The tableau showcases a high speed train- design of which is based on existing high speed trains of the world. Being the most economical means of transport, Indian Railways caters to the need of common man.

The Indian Railways’ progress in bringing about transformative changes in the sector through high speed trains, station infrastructure and passenger terminals and women empowerment has been presented in the tableau.

Indian Railways promotes gender equality. The tableau endeavours to show that women are empowered in the Railways. They are now being selected for jobs for which only males were considered earlier. Women are increasingly being employed as train drivers, station masters, technical fitters, guards and in the Railway Protection Force (RPF).
