OECD looking for Senior Advisor for Tax Inspectors Without Borders Project
By TIOL News Service
PARIS, OCT 01, 2014: THE Development Assistance Committee (DAC) and the Committee on Fiscal Affairs (CFA) oversee a Joint Tax and Development Programme to improve the enabling environment for developing countries to collect an appropriate share of taxes internationally. The Committees are supported by an OECD Tax and Development Task Force, comprising OECD and developing countries, international organisations, NGOs and the private sector.
It has been identified that the provision of skilled tax auditors is a gap in the assistance offered to developing countries. In mid-2013, a feasibility study on the Tax Inspectors Without Borders-initiative (TIWB) was approved by the Committees. Through TIWB-programmes assistance is delivered to developing countries, transferring knowledge and skills in the field of tax audit by working side by side with local tax officials on actual audit cases.
A TIWB interim Secretariat was established within the OECD Tax and Development Programme, responsible for the development of TIWB, acting as a clearing house to match demands from developing countries for support with appropriate experts, to develop and maintain various TIWB tools, to provide information on TIWB to all parties and to be involved in deployment operations in an advisory role.
The OECD’s Tax and Development Programme has the exceptional opportunity for a capable and energetic individual to further develop and implement TIWB beyond the interim implementation phase which expires at the end of 2014.
