589 Pax being tracked for Ebola in Maharashtra, Kerala and Tamil Nadu

NEW DELHI: AUG 23, 2014 : DURING past 24 hours, 234 passengers from the affected countries have arrived at the Airports of Mumbai (96), Delhi (97), Chennai (12), Kochi (10), Bangalore(10), Kolkata (3) and Trivandrum (6). Five passengers (4 Doctors and one Physiotherapist) who returned from Nigeria were admitted to the quarantine facility at Delhi for observation. They are not having any symptoms and are healthy.
The Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) is tracking such passengers, the details of which are provided to them by the Airport Health Organization. Today, 59 passengers were enrolled for follow up in their respective States through State IDSP units. As on date, a cumulative number of 589 passengers are being tracked. Most of them are in the States of Maharashtra, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
The Control Room in the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has received 638 calls since its inception on 09/08/2014 morning and only 9 calls received in the past 24 hours. Most of the callers have sought information on signs and symptoms of the disease and travel related risk of acquiring the infection.
