FDI from Malaysia: Energy & construction receive maximum

NEW DELHI, JULY 24, 2014: INVESTMENTS have been received from Malaysian companies in various sectors including Construction Development: Townships, housing, built-up infrastructure and construction-development projects. Top five sectors that have attracted FDI equity inflows from Malaysia between April 2000 and May 2014 are as under:

India and Malaysia have signed a Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA) on 18.2.2011 which has come into effect from 1.7.2011. The Agreement includes chapters on Trade in Goods, Trade in Services, Investment and other areas of economic cooperation. Details of the Agreement are available in public domain.

India and Malaysia agreed to target a bilateral trade volume of USD 15 billion by 2015.

The information was given by the Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman in a written reply in Rajya Sabha yesterday.
