CBI nabs Coalfields staffer accepting bribe

NEW DELHI, APR 20, 2014: THE Central Bureau Of Investigation has arrested a Driver of Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) posted at Singrauli for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 50,000/- from the Complainant.
A case was registered against a Driver of NCL on the basis of a complaint lodged by an Officer of Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL),Singrauli. It was alleged that the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 5 lakhs in the name of CBI officers from the complainant for settling the pending complaint against him with CBI, Jabalpur. The demand of bribe was reduced & later finalized for Rs. 2 lakhs. It was further alleged that the accused person repeatedly made telephone calls to the complainant and threatened him with the CBI action, if the bribe amount was not paid to him. During verification, the accused public servant demanded the bribe of Rs. 1.5 lakhs as first installment for delivering to CBI officer. It was also found that no complaint was pending against the complainant in CBI office, Jabalpur and through false representation, the accused was demanding money in the name of CBI.
The CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed while demanding and accepting the partial bribe amount of Rs. 50,000/- from the Complainant.
The arrested accused will be produced before the Court at Jabalpur on 20.04.2014.
